Quality Childhood Conference International 2015 (QCCI 2015) is to be held on 18-19 June 2015 (pre-conference on 17 June) at The Hong Kong Institute of Education (HKIEd), co-organized by Centre for Childhood Research and Innovation (CCRI), Department of Early Childhood Education (ECE) of the HKIEd and the Faculty of Education of University of Cambridge.

The theme of this conference is, “Enhancing Quality Childhood Education: Synergizing Global Efforts”, aiming at exploring the concept of “Quality Childhood Education (QCE)”, promoting in-depth discussion on the notion of quality across disciplines and bringing forward new visions in enhancing “Quality” childhood education for the betterment of our next generation.

The keynote lectures, invited symposium and presentations will integrate this theme and cover a wide range of sub-themes, including ‘Child and Childhood’, ‘Children with Diverse Needs’, ‘Play and Learning’, ‘Curriculum and Instruction’, ‘Childhood Education Programme’, ‘Teacher Professional Development and Change’, ‘Parenting, Family and Partnership Building’, ‘Quality Assurance’, ‘Leadership and Change’ and ‘Policy Issue’. Prof. Kevin CHUNG Kien Hoa from the HKIEd, Prof. Claire HUGHES from University of Cambridge, Prof. Lasse LIPPONEN form University of Helsinki and Prof. Nirmala RAO from the University of Hong Kong will serve as keynote speakers at the conference. In addition, Dr. David WHITEBREAD from University of Cambridge, Prof. HUA Aihua from East China Normal University and Dr. Nora SCHEUER from Universidad Nacional del Comahue will serve at the invited symposium of ‘Play and Learning’. We believe that this conference will provide an excellent opportunity to advance communication, collaboration and exchange among academics, researchers, and practitioners.

You are cordially invited to share your innovations, experiences, cutting-edge findings, best practices and visions in the field of quality childhood education. The 5^th ILRFEC meeting will take place at University of Eastern Finland, Savonlinna

The aim of ILRFEC is to gather people involved in early childhood leadership research and to create an arena for presenting leadership research. The 5th ILRFEC will provide a platform for collaborative research workshops for researchers on specific topics of ECE leadership.

This is a request for abstract submission for presenting leadership research papers at the ILRFEC in Savonlinna. Each speaker will have 15 minutes to do the presentation, and 10 minutes to answer questions and respond to comments from the audience.

The abstract (approx. 200 words) should include the title of the paper and 2–3 keywords. In addition name and contact information, institution and affiliation. The deadline for submitting an abstract is 31^st August 2015. The abstracts should be sent by email to johanna.heikka@uef.fi

The program is not completed, but it would mainly consist of three parts:

Wednesday 9^th, Dec:

• Gathering at University of Eastern Finland, Savonlinna campus
• Visiting Savonlinna city and Early childhood centre

Thursday 10^th, Dec:

• Presentation of papers from ILRFEC members
• Evening gathering

Friday 11^th, Dec:

• Collaborative research workshops

There is a train connection between Helsinki and Savonlinna. The train fare (return) is approximately 140 €.

The ILRFEC meeting will take place at Queen Maud University College of Early Childhood Education (QMUC) in Trondheim, Norway 10^th -12^th June 2014.

The aim of the ILRFEC is to gather people involved in early childhood leadership research, and to create an arena for presenting leadership research. This is a request for abstract submission for presenting leadership research papers at the meeting in Trondheim. Each speaker will have 15 minutes to do the presentation, and 10 minutes to answer questions and respond to comments from the audience.

The abstract (approx. 200 words) should include the title of the paper and 2–3 keywords. In addition name and contact information, institution and affiliation. The deadline for submitting an abstract is 1^st April 2014. The abstracts should be sent by email to per.t.granrusten@dmmh.no

In Sydney we discussed the variety in the use of terms in the ECEC sector. One suggestion was that ILRF should try to contribute to develop a clearer internatsjonal conceptual framework for research and dissemination in the field of leadership in ECEC. We would like to challenge the members to contribute in this, and bring terms and consepts that are difficult give meaningful translation into English, or from English to own language.

The program is not completed, but it would mainly consist of three parts:

1) Visit to a small samle of Norwegian Early Childhood centres, one with focus on outdoor play
2) Presentation of papers from ILRF members
3) A roundtable discussion and planning of future research activities and collaboration among ILRF members.

Monday 9^th June is a Holliday in Norway, and that has at least two implications. The shops are closed, and the weekend is a long weekend and there might be a high demand for hotel rooms. It may be necessary to book well in advance.
